The train from Niagara to New York was a long but beautiful one heading south along the Hudson River and it was wonderful to be back in Greenwood Lake again. The summer weather was on holiday that week, but that allowed for lots of relaxing and catching up with Amy, Joe and their family.
The day after arriving was the annual Greenwood Lake Boat Parade. Our friends proudly converted their boat into a floating advertisement for their apple orchard and scooped first prize for best business! Whether this was due to the fabulous decorating, the throwing of apples at the judges, or that it was the only boat in the business category is still open for debate.
We spent a day in the rain at the Bronx Zoo only a few visitors but just as many animals. The enclosures were brilliant…the polar bears and the snow leopards were the highlight! We warmed up with hot chocolates in the Little Italy of the Bronx.
We did a tour of the US Military Academy at West Point, visited the “Orange County Choppers”showroom, and enjoyed a few picnics.
