Avengers Assemble: Flight Force

Best ride of all. Really, really fast (0-91 kph in 2.8 seconds), loops, corkscrews, drops and more, but not bone shakingly terrifying. The first time we went, the start freaked us out but the times after that we knew what to expect. Similar to Hyperspace Mountain but with a bit more gusto.

Slinky Dog Zigzag Spin

The Slinky Dog had a tremendous amount of wait time for four identical revolutions in a reasonably slow circle. I understand its target audience is little kids, but going on something like the Toy Soldier Parachute Drop (which looks a lot scarier from the ground but is fine once you’re in the air) or the Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast would bring far more joy. 

Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop

This ride I jumped into the singles line which brought the wait time down from 45 minutes to less than 5! The ride had a stunning view at the top and was nowhere as fast or frightening as it looked from the ground. 

Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain 

Fun fun fun! Not as aggressive as Avengers Assemble Flight Force, but a great ride. The front is absolutely the best. You can ask the people who put you into place if you can wait for the next one and go in the front.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril

Boy oh boy I loved this one. This is the ONLY ride with a height limit of 140cm (the only one Zara couldn’t do). You’re outside in an old mining cart, and boy does it feel like it too. I would actually recommend going at night because at the peak you have a wonderful view of the happiest place on Earth, before being ripped down a hill, through a loop the loop, and having your neck muscles strenuously pushed to their limit.

Star Tours – The Adventures Continue

This ‘ride’ wasn’t at all what I was expecting. You sit in a small cinema with 3D glasses on and the entire floor moves up, down and side to side. This is a perfect ride for younger ones (and older ones!) to have a fun break from searing adrenaline levels and 200+ bpm. There are multiple 4D videos and we got lucky enough to see a new one all three times (including 1 that randomly featured Zara’s photo on a wanted poster for the Rebel Alliance!)

The Haunted Mansion

The Haunted Mansion is a spooky dooky ride through a haunted house (it wasn’t all that scary) filled with cool changing paintings, moving furniture and skeletons galore. The ride is much less about the actual ride and much more about the story behind it and the attention to detail inside the mansion. 

Dumbo the Flying Elephant

Dumbo was a long wait for a short ride but it was cool because you could control whether you go up or down. There were many different coloured elephants, such as pink, purple, blue, green and more. Good for the younger ones. 

It’s a Small World

A little boat ride through a small world with many different dolls and their traditional and/or iconic things from many countries (even New Zealand!) This ride is different to the others – it’s slow and calming but a must-do. Try and find your country!

The Lancelot Carousel

A carousel, you know horses going up, down, round and round, yeah that – this is a carousel too but not a normal one, this one was magic! Each horse had gems, sparkles and their own unique pattern. 

Casey Jr Circus Train

Another long wait for a short ride (2:12 minutes from start to finish) It was a small colourful train going over bumps, lumps and putting up hills. 

Ratatouille: The Adventure

We saw that the normal line was about 55 minutes and the single line was 5 minutes. We preferred to be split up rather than wait an hour and be together. This ride was another one that you need 3D glasses for. You hop into a rat-car and drive around and some chefs are trying to get you. 

Mickey’s PhilharMagic

This was a fun 4D movie theatre with a great musical adventure led by Donald Duck. It was a good laugh but I would rather spend time with a more advanced movie (such as Spider Man WEB Adventures, Ratatouille, or Star Tours: The Adventures Continue). But this is ideal if you’ve just eaten lunch and aren’t quite ready for crazy roller coasters. 

Crush’s Coaster

Crush’s Coaster was a fun experience with unpredictable turns and drops. You sat in a turtle shell facing back to back. When the coaster starts moving, it goes slowly up through a reef and then suddenly it’s all on! You’re caught in the East Australian Current, spinning, looping, dropping, climbing and swirling until you pop out in Sydney, Australia!

Spider Man WEB Adventure

This ride was 4D too. The whole point of this ride was to help Spider Man destroy the Spiderbots. And how do you destroy the Spiderbot you ask? Well, whenever you see a Spiderbot, you fling out your arm to make a web that captures and neutralises the Spiderbot. The smaller spiders are worth less points than the bigger ones. If you accidently put a web on Spider Man you lose a few points. 

Alice’s Curious Labyrinth

Now this one was not a ride, it was a walk. It wasn’t that hard but I walked into a dead end a few times. If you went the right way you ended up at a little castle. At the top of the castle you get a view of Disneyland. 

Disneyland Railroad 

This was a fun way to get around the park, with sensational attention to detail, but was no faster than walking. It was nice to watch the train go by every now and then and it is a bit of a must-do.

Cars Road Trip

An interesting ride in a bus type thing seeing a few Cars characters (Lightning McQueen, Mater, Guido, Doc Hudson, Fillmore). Then you head into a canyon that catches on fire and then has a huge flood. The water comes pouring down onto the roof and down the sides of the canyon.

Pirates of the Caribbean

Boarding our ship we were whisked away up a waterway where the trip really began. Glimmering treasure chests on the shore, pincing crabs and sticking octopus, prisoners bribing a dog with bones because the dog has the key to their jail cell…we sailed past Captain Blackbeard and a few of his crew members firing cannonballs at us from his big pirate ship, Jack Sparrow peeking out of a barrel, many pirates singing “Yo ho yo ho, this is the life for me”…then splash we dropped down a waterfall…we sailed past many more pirates, even pirates drinking rum, and finished off in Captain Jack Sparrow’s treasure trove.

Peter Pan’s Flight

Off we sailed in a boat into Neverland with Peter Pan. Guess what, the boat wasn’t sailing on water. No it wasn’t, it was flying! Above London, we flew to Neverland over rainbows and mountain tops. Peter Pan and Captain Hook were fighting with their swords once again. We flew past many other characters as well. Oh, dear me, we saw Captain Hook with Tick Tock the Crocodile! Be careful Captain Hook! We saw beautiful mermaids too. 

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

It was pretty inside the “castle” but the wait was long and the ride was not easy to follow along with a story. There were odds and ends from Snow White’s story as you circle around in the mining cart. The mining carts were each named after the dwarves, which Zara really liked. It was a nice ride but if the wait times are long, move on.

RC Racer

This was a great laugh of ‘Oh wow look how high we are…WATCH OUT FOR THE BUILDING!’ You’ll see what I mean. It was basically a 25 metre high swing on steroids.

The Mysteries of the Nautilus 

This one was definitely not a ride in the traditional sense but more of a journey (one you use your own feet for) through an old submarine with an iris porthole. 

Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast

This is a fun interactive ride through space on a self guided mission (you can turn your space ship around) to shoot as many targets as possible and defeat Evil Emperor Zurg. Fun for all and a not-so-thrilling fun experience.

The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 

Logan: The randomly generated ‘flight path’ of each ride means you could do this hundreds of times and never experience the same trip. Personally I found twice was enough. From the get go, they build the scene and history for what you’re about to experience. As the elevator doors close, you have no idea whether you will drop to the basement or shoot to the top floor. A masterpiece of engineering not for the weak stomached.

Zara: I hated it and never want to do it again!

We had incredible and memorable time at Disneyland! SO MUCH FUN!
